The air was filled with snow flakes, melody, and a hint of peppermint as Hurricane Dave, the Hims, and other musical guests successfully raised $620 dollars for the Kiwanis/Salvation Army senior food baskets.
Many flocked to the concert due to KTUU and KWHL media coverage.
The music pleased the crowd in no small part due to the multitude of musicians, their professional sound setup, and the addition of an “auto harp”. This wasn’t a free concert like those commonly held on sidewalks with open guitar cases. This was a genuine concert.
Even Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance.
Unfortunately, it seems Mikey likes direct service over fundraising. That being said, if you would like to donate to this project please let us know through our contact form. Adrian Avey, our club treasurer would be happy to work with you.
Mark your calendars for Christmas, July 14
Kiwanis is happy to announce a new partnership and a new event. The Jul’ Yule is a free Christmas concert by Hurricane Dave and friends to raise funds for our senior Christmas baskets. Please attend and invite your friends! Click here to download a pdf of the flyer below.
Successful Salvation Army Project
On Tuesday December 6, 2011 the University Kiwanis Club sponsored an evening of giving with the Salvation Army’s “Meals on Wheels” program. Some 350 bags of gifts and food items were assembled by Kiwanis Club members along with members of our sponsored KEY Clubs and UAA CKI members. In about 1 and 1/2 hours the group worked the assembly line and filled all the bags to then be delivered by the Salvation Army to local people served by the Meals on Wheels program. Have a Merry Christmas!
